Q is for Queen

This blog is in honor/honour of the females that are brown or faded green while their mates are colorful/colourful! Many of these birds are not readily recognizable! I have now downloaded but not yet sorted my Korea pics so didn't want to wait on those. Hopefully this weekend!

Note: these could be juvenile males; they look like the females. But we are going with these are females.

The image above is a golden whistler. It does whistle but isn't very golden. You can see the male on J is for jellyfish.

This little lady (pretty sure she is a lady) is a female scarlet robin. Looks brown and orange to me! Her mate was on the Gang's all here

The female fairy wrens are great at incognito. They could be superb or variegated. In some instances, I swear they are red-browed fire tail finches. However, those juveniles are all brown and don't have red eye patches. The fairy wren boys come in various blue shades. See More fairy tails. The females are bolder and more active!

Also from Gang's all here; the female Gang Gang doesn't photograph well but is also fairly homely. But very important for making more Gang Gangs!

The blue bill gives away the identify of these girls - believe it or not, these are chestnut teals. Family photo showing the boy along with cute little ducklings!

The King parrot female is not as bright as her counterpart but is still colorful by American standards. The king of the family is visible on K is for Kanga
There are lots more out there but figured this gives you the perspective! Not all look different; however, if they do, the females uniformly are drabber in color.

On a personal note, we now have our truck! Roo bar attached but we elected to avoid the snorkel.

Moon-glow white (most Aus vehicles are white; better in sun?). We didn't get to keep the bow. Mieke was is first dog (in the car). He went with us to run the errands and pick up the truck.

The "snorkel" option suggests you can drive through deeper water. Since driving through deep water seems like a really dumb idea and the snorkel requires cutting a hole in the body of the vehicle, we declined.

So good to have our own vehicle. We stopped at the storage unit and added the camping gear to the bed of the truck to take with us to South Australia.
We are in Bermagui until the 3rd. We go do a walk through on our new house on the 1st! We don't own it until later in the month but since we will be out of town and it is darn close, this will be the key set up etc. Mieke probably gets to be first dog there, too. We should be able to start emptying the storage unit just before Xmas!

Happy Black Friday in the USA. (We celebrated that in Oz, too, even though there is no Thanksgiving the day before 😜.)
