Our ship is coming in (slowly)

The Maersk Biscayne  (Panama flag) holds our container of goods. It is due into New Zealand about Sept 5 and then should make its way to Sydney, with any luck.

We loaded the trucks for the container on July 23 and then mostly moved into Matt's new house. His stuff was moved out the Saturday beforehand. After that it was goodwill runs, care corners drop offs and a dumpster bag! Habitat for Humanity now has our house and is fixing it up. They say it is ideal for a multigenerational family and love the welcoming neighborhood.  It may be a year before it is lived in again but hoping the new family finds it as good a home as we did!

For those of you out of the loop, Matt moved to a smaller house a few blocks away. He has a 50s rambler with 3 bed, 1 bath and a large basement. No real dining room but a nice airy living room. Great neighbors and even closer to Culvers.

We helped do some minor fixing up while there. Please admire my kitchen cabinet work!

The individual parts were great (except that yellowish wall paint was more yellow-green in person) but too much all together.

The wall is now "heirloom tomato" and the cupboards a shiny white. the countertops are still a 70s vibe and the guy in the chair has moved out. Casey scrubbed all the door handles to return their patina. The previous owners left the little island cart -very useful!

We also painted the downstairs - it morphed from a sunny yellow (fine color but a lot of it) to a classic white which looks pale green. These pics don't show the room well but you can see the color change.

Our old dining table fits down there well as a gaming table. The extra chair went into the Harry Potter cupboard (Casey claims it is the time out chair now).

Lots of sprucing up of the deck and garage, as well!

There is still more to be done, as is the case with any house of that vintage. The bones are good but the outlets really could use updating!

We were lucky to have a place to move furniture to and one that was close by. Thanks to Matt, Pierce Ward, Eileen Kuhlmann and Matt's buddies for helping us with the transition!

Finally - this is us arriving at the Moruya airport on Aug 14, 2025. We have enough luggage to stay clothed until our ship does make it in!
