D is for driving, danger and deposit

We put earnest money down on this property at 184 Barbaroo Rd in Cobargo, New South Wales

This was after having driven up and down the south coast of New South Wales most of Tuesday. This drive  included a bit of moving in and out of the rolling hills near Brown Mountain. We looked at three properties with a realtor (Hayden did a lovely job) and liked all three and were ready to research the pros/cons of riverfront that is owned by the crown. [Crown lease is a new term for me; property held by the government but you can have full or partial rights to use it, depending.] The property we looked at with the crown lease was gorgeous and had riverfront that was used in the past for a kayaking company. The owners had also invested in "hip camping" sites. We were not in love with that bit. It was also above our comfort level in price and more than we needed. But absolutely gorgeous. We fell in love with the one we saw this morning though. This one is close to Scott's folks and sister and has paddocks!

This might relieve some of the stress of trying to find things in our storage unit:

Since we got stuff unloaded from the container on the way out of town, it was not ideally set up. We pulled out a row two boxes wide and found most of the things we were looking for. We don't yet have our truck so it is likely staying put for another month.

It is spring here, so danger is also coming out in the warmer weather in the form of snakes. The brown snakes are the nastiest and haven't seen one yet but black snakes are poisonous and this smaller one was having a snooze in our walking path

This little python was hanging out in the garden; he is not poisonous and not dangerous yet!

And no blog is complete without bird pics. This is the dusky moorhen (another D):

They are often found in the company of purple swamphens

Both like wetlands where they can find plenty of plants, seeds and invertebrates.
We are headed toward Sydney for more pet sitting adventures after more financial convos!
