Ring around the rosy
Scott found this cutie on the back power cable. It is not a rose robin but it is in the same family. This female flame robin is the first we have seen here since we arrived. She posed a few times before heading off.
To refresh - we found a rose robin awhile back but were unable to get great pics or find it again, despite serious hunting.
These Australian robins are smaller than American robins and seemingly much harder to spot. We haven't given up. After the first rose robin siting, we have seen other robins (elsewhere) with some color such as this male lame robin
And this set of scarlet robins
We did also see a pink robin. Unfortunately it saw us first and was quickly out of the scene.
The hooded robins are not as colorful. We got a single blurry shot of a hooded robin.
Finally, we have jacky-winters in abundance. These little robins like sitting on fence posts and looking for bugs below
On the personal front, Scott is now 6 weeks out from his pacemaker surgery and able to hang laundry and do vacuuming! I got told I need a stress test to qualify for volunteer fire fighting. Since this is pricey, I withdrew my application. There are other roles so will talk with the local group and see what they say. We did get to start fires at the last training session - helping an older couple with their wood pile burns. It was like campfires on steroids but minus the marshmallows.
We have a Barrabaroo (our road) land care meeting tonight. The group organizes road improvements, weed management etc. Should be fun to meet more distant neighbors.
Will leave you with one more rose robin pic! It only looks like it is falling off the branch. Maybe too embarrassed to show itself again?
