Lizard

I didn't remember this poem by Shel Silverstein but there aren't too many kids songs/poems on skinks and lizards. I do like it even though it is wrong in so many ways!

Lizard

A lizard in a blizzard

Got a snowflake in his gizzard

And nothing much else happened, I'm afraid,

But lizard rhymed with blizzard

And blizzard rhymed with gizzard

And that, my dear, is why most poems are made

Casey has been befriending our lizard wildlife. They often leave whenever I walk by but she convinces them to stay out for photo shoots. This is the one that she calls fierce.

She has also been befriending the large blue-tongue skink that lives under the porch. We thought it had died but it does come out for Casey (and bananas)

This is a different one but you can see the appearance differences vs the little guys

Even when we leave Cobargo, her lizard charm works. This fellow (lace monitor) happily led us down the path in Mimosa National park a good 300m before we passed him. All others I have seen have fled up trees and froze in place.

We have also been playing tourist while Casey is here - more venturing into shops and checking out activities. We swam in the blue pool and off the beach in Bermagui. No surf boards but Scott and Casey did some body surfing. I played in the shallows and in the rock pools. This is a lovely lunch on the Sundeck at Bermagui. One of the owners is celiac so they have great gluten free options.

We also visited the Bermagui sculpture exhibit. Some were amazing, some not so much! I did learn Casey is an art critic ⭐⭐⭐

The venue was amazing. I forgot to take any pics of the inside bit - also some fantastic pieces. You can see more in the catalog

Public service announcement - if you have 2 more minutes, check out some of these amazing pics from the British wildlife photography awards!
