R is for Red (and ready to move in)
This guy was sitting across the river, waiting to be noticed. We were carefully watching the river for platypus (none seen) and then looked up to see him preening. Flame robin!
This small one is a scarlet honeyeater - they don't sit still very long and develop the red heads over time (like goldfinches turning more golden)
We are currently in Goolwa, South Australia. To get to this state, we passed from New South Wales and through Victoria. We stopped at two cities along the way for more hiking and bird watching.
Found more gang-gangs at a campsite in Victoria!
He definitely fits into the red theme, as well! This place comes with a 15 yo shih tzu (Jazz) and has a golf course behind and a park in front so lots of birds. Mostly lots of galahs, swamphens and ducks. Hard to complain about them; the galahs do like to descend on the driveway and on the golf course in noisy flocks. Often about 5:30am
A pair of galahs in the tree at the back of the house (light red)
This is a grey teal from the pond - red eye....
This ibis/bin chicken/tip turkey also frequents the backyard (tip=garbage dump).
No red on him unless you count his upper legs.
We now own the house on Barrabaroo Rd! Closed yesterday. Not quite ready for visitors but we did keep electricity connected and there are resident sheep and horses (not ours) watching over the place.
Chatted with the kids for Scott's birthday - internet here is a bit better than other spots. We are here until the 22nd and then will head back to our new house! More posts before then, I promise!
Always happy to get comments on your favorite pics or memories!
