Goldilocks and the three "bears"
Why yes, I do often base my image choices on a fun (for me, at least) title. Recency is another factor. We have been taking dozens of pictures a day so I have too many choices, otherwise. The little guy/gal above is a yellow robin. Much smaller than the American red robin but also with a lovely singing voice. They are all over and not super shy. We have lots of pictures of them! There are several pretty yellow birds including the New Holland Honeyeaters (previous post) and the yellow rumped thornbills. The latter are tiny and very flitty so often out of focus. It is rare to see them this low but you can see the yellow fuzzball, at least.
These "goldilocks" birds go with the three roos that were next to the road yesterday:
Because this is a national park (literally, on both sides of us), kangaroos and wallabies are all around us. The group of dad, mom and older kid is less common.
That image looks like mostly kangaroos. Wallabies are smaller with different coloring and tend to be in smaller groups.
These are much better than my first sitings - Scott showed me around the farm. His cousin had been trying to grow grain crops on the farm and the roos were not welcome. The live ones were through a rifle scope and not common.
Our container ship is now in Auckland! Not sure yet when it is leaving Auckland, must less when our stuff will be unloaded. We ordered our truck (designed for farm and to pull the caravan*) but it is in a new release (2025.5) and won't be here until midNovember. That may make the caravan part obsolete so we will wait and see. We have set up at least one house/pet sitting venture and are looking forward to some furry friends and more adventures. Right now we are staying local but looking at later options that might be further afield.
*because we can't buy property yet without a major tax hit, I thought we could travel around with a caravan/motor home. Hard to do without the truck to tow it.
Hope you all are well! Drop me a line with your adventures (in and out of work/school).
