Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

counter full of fruit
Our garden grows quite well, thank you. The first pear tree is almost done, the second just starting to ripen and the peaches are turning ripe and then overripe very quickly. I have run out of jars so am currently filling up the freezer and dehydrating fruit until more jars are shipped in!

We did actually buy more plants, including cauliflower and broccoli. Those of you that witnessed my attempts to grow those in MN can laugh. We also planted a fig tree (very small) and a passionfruit vine + seeds (carrots, radishes and turnips). Need to make more garden beds!

We had our first lunch company today-  Suzie, Kerry and Mieke came over. We house sat for Suzie and took care of Mieke in Bermagui. Scott bought a grill the other day so we got to try it out. They did get cucumbers out of the garden and a little bit more veggies in the quiche; mostly they got to take home some fruit.

We also had our first truly home delivery this week - three rugs were brought up the road and unloaded for us. Nice to see it is possible. We should be getting a bed and recliner this week so proof of concept was useful!

The house is coming together! We still need a dining table and a few more ordered items to arrive.

Our bedroom has a real rug now! The front door has a hallway runner:

We have a TV now! and books in the bookcases:

One guest room is about ready (needs a bigger rug and maybe a different color rug). Good timing since Casey is coming to visit and arrives next week.

The office is close to being set up with another bed. Functional printer too! It does need its rug to arrive and some more pillows.

Pictures are still to be hung and we hope to get a combo billiards/dining room table in the space:
two bookcases and full shelves
Should still be able to put the puzzle board on that table, as needed.

Starting to shift attention to the outdoors - weeds are also growing like mad, as is the grass. Some of our 28 acres is scrub but a fair bit needs mowing. We are looking into more water tanks, maybe a new well and some solar panels. The place is keeping us busy!

Just so you don't think we have forgotten the birds, including a new one for you. These little jacky-winters are often on the gate to our property in the evenings, greeting us as we return home!

They are in the same family as our yellow robins and that ever elusive pink robin.
